Charter school legislation heads to Mississippi governor

The Mississippi Senate has passed legislation, by a vote of 24-21, that would expand charter schools in the state. Having already passed the House, SB2161 now heads to Gov. Phil Bryant to be signed into law. The bill would allow students from the lowest-performing schools to choose charter schools in other districts, rather than staying in district.
